Thinking day 2025

World Thinking Day February 22, 2025 – how will you be spending this day of international friendship? I know that I will be spending time with Guiding and Trefoil friends thinking about those overseas and in this country.

Thinking Day is of course the birthday of Olave Baden-Powell, the first World Chief Guide, and Robert Baden-Powell, who was the founder of the Boy Scout Movement. It’s a time to celebrate what a special and unique organisation that we belong to.

Every year WAGGGS has a World Thinking Day fund – the fund started in 1932 when it was pointed out that birthdays and celebrations normally involve the giving and receiving of gifts. So, if you want to continue the tradition in your Guilds of collecting pennies and coins and sending to WAGGGS I am sure your collection will be appreciated. Money received by WAGGGS help fund WAGGGS activities.

Have a wonderful Thinking Day whatever you do but always know that:

The threads of Guiding and Trefoil weave through our lives giving us:

Laughter during the good times we share

Comfort when things go wrong

A shoulder to cry on when we are sad

Support when we need strength

Friendships to last a lifetime

Satisfaction in the knowledge that we are helping others

Sharing our threads with others will create a wonderful tapestry of Guiding and Trefoil

May our tapestry continue forever.

Adapted from a poem from Girls in the lead 100 years on – Girlguiding Buckinghamshire

My best wishes
