As an organisation, Trefoil Guild is managed by a team of volunteers who comprise our board of trustees, our finance and general purposes committee, and a small team of paid staff. The organisation and board of trustees is led by the national chair of Trefoil Guild - Eileen Martin. 

We also have a national president who is a non-voting member of the board of trustees, but supports the national chair and volunteers on the board.

Approximately 30 volunteers comprise the 2 committees and oversee all decisions for Trefoil Guild from subscriptions rates to members' opportunities to staffing.

About our trustees

The board of trustees oversee all the business for the Trefoil Guild. Members volunteer their time in the following roles:

  • national president
  • national chair
  • 9 country and region chairs
  • treasurer
  • chair of finance and general purposes committee
  • 3 national advisers:
    • communications and engagement
    • international
    • programme and development

The president of Trefoil Guild is non-voting member of the board of trustees.

The board meets regularly throughout the year to discuss important topics and make decisions for the charity. The highlights from the meeting are available shortly after the meeting for all members to be able to keep up to date with Trefoil Guild developments. The minutes of the meetings are added to the website after they have been signed at the following board of trustee meeting. 

As trustees of the charity, the members of the board of trustees have a great responsibility to ensure that membership fees are used correctly and for the benefit of all members in the best ways possible.

The board of trustees composes a 5 year plan at regular intervals in order to keep driving the organisation forward to remain relevant and vibrant for current members and to be able to attract new members.

Trefoil Guild is run on a day-to-day basis by a small team of paid staff based in our offices in London. The office team comprises of 4 members of staff. All members of staff will be able to answer any queries you may have or pass it on to the appropriate volunteer. You can email us at:

Focus on finances and payment processing, Annual Meeting planning, supporting the national chair in the day to day running of Trefoil Guild, line manager for administrators and coordinators.

Focus on KEY, training, photography, social media, annual census processes and queries, and branding.

Eve and Lydia - Trefoil Guild administrators
Focus on The Trefoil magazine, registering new guilds and new members, Voyage award processes, starter pack applications, and the STARS challenge.
