
Warwickshire county is a mix of rural and inner city, with the largest city being Coventry. It includes Nuneaton & Bedworth to the north, Rugby to the east, Solihull to the west and Stratford upon Avon, Southam, Warwick, Kenilworth and Leamington Spa to the south.
During the industrial revolution, Warwickshire became one of Britain's foremost industrial counties, with Coventry playing an important part in the textile trade, and in later years the car industry.
Warwickshire was the birthplace of Shakespeare, home of George Eliot (author), Philip Larkin (poet) and Frank Whittle (inventor of the jet engine).
The River Avon flows through Warwickshire which is home to Kenilworth and Warwick Castles.
There are 11 Trefoil Guilds spread around the county that meet at different times and come together for county events.
