Lancashire West covers the Fylde Coast – Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Council areas across to the border with Lancashire North West. It includes a large coastal area as well as market towns and rural villages. The area of Fylde is known as Windmill Land and at one time there were over 35 windmills on the Fylde coast. This was because wind power is plentiful making the choice of wind over water mills preferable. The Lancashire West county Girlguiding badge depicts a Lancashire rose and windmill.
