Hertfordshire is a very large and richly diverse county bordered by Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Greater London, and Buckinghamshire though mainly rural along with industry and commerce.
It has many waterways from rich chalk streams, to navigable rivers and canals rich with wildlife. Hertfordshire has the very ancient Roman settlement of Verulamium in St Alban's City and other historic sites and buildings along with many new towns including the first one at Stevenage and the home of no less than 3 Garden Cities.
Stately homes can be found scattered throughout the county along with very modern developments, film studios, and centres for the development space technology.
