Clwyd was formed in 1974 and named after the river Clwyd which runs through it. It is a large county consisting of Denbighshire and Flintshire Councils until1996 when further county boundaries were defined and the present Councils of Flintshire, Wrexham, Denbighshire and Conwy were formed. Girlguiding decided to keep its boundaries to the old County of Clwyd.
Within Clwyd we have five Trefoil Guilds. At our County meetings we include the Lones Guild as its current Chair is in our County, so that we can keep in touch with those members and allow them to join in any activities we may have.
The County house Ty Clwyd is a multi-purpose holiday and conference centre with full facilities for the disabled. It has 5 camping sites and is located in an attractive rural setting of approximately 9 acres, bordered by its own woodland.
