A Stranger, or Was She?
Sometimes the most special friendships begin with a simple introduction.
Since the age of seven, Lyn has been part of the Girlguiding family. From Brownie to Guide, Ranger to Leader, Guiding has always been close to her heart. Like many Current and former volunteers, she is now a proud member of the Trefoil Guild, the branch of Girlguiding that keeps members connected through friendship, shared values and a continued love of the organisation.
When Lyn planned a trip to the Isle of Man, Jean, our Region Chair, introduced her to Jayne, Chair of the Isle of Man Trefoil Guild. What started as a conversation between two women with a shared Guiding background quickly became so much more.
Although they had never met before, Jayne generously opened her home to Lyn for her stay on the island. She didn't stop there. She collected Lyn from the airport, drove her back for her return journey, showed her many of the Isle of Man's beautiful sights, and even organised a Trefoil Guild walk so that Lyn could meet fellow Guild members from across the island.
It was a truly special time, filled with laughter, friendship and the unmistakable spirit of Guiding. Throughout her visit, Lyn was also able to assist with some Region PR enquiries, strengthening connections even further.
This experience perfectly demonstrates what Girlguiding and the Trefoil Guild are all about. The friendships we build through Guiding can span decades, cross seas and bring together people who may begin as strangers but quickly become friends.
Thank you, Jayne, for your kindness, generosity and warm Isle of Man welcome.
