Hosted by Mayor

Outgoing Major, Gillian McCollum of Ards and North Down hosted a reception for the Bangor Trefoil Guild. The reception was held at Bangor castle as part of their 75th anniversary celebrations. The guild was treated to tea and scones with the mayor, after which they toured part of the castle including the council chambers. Everyone who attended enjoyed the morning very much and the event was published in the local newspaper.

Potted history of Bangor Trefoil Guild

In March 1951 a reunion of former County Down guide leaders was held at Lorne, where it was unanimously agreed to form a branch of the Trefoil Guild, meeting twice a year with one annual outing at a cost of 2/6.

A report from the AGM in March 1953 referred to the group as the County Down Trefoil Guild, before the name officially became Bangor Trefoil Guild between March 30, 1951and April 17, 1956.

Since then Bangor Trefoil Guild has continued to flourish, now meeting monthly and enjoying a wide range of activities including games, crafts, days out, holidays, and opportunities to connect with other guilds across the UK and abroad. The Trefoil remains a place to find fun, friendship and shared purpose.
