Round the Regions - Tayside
Chair of Perth and Kinross Trefoil :- The county has Trefoil Guilds in Auchterarder, Blairgowrie, Crieff and Perth.
P&K ended 2025 with 64 members a small increase but an increase none the less. We have had a few prospective members attend recent meetings too so hopefully we retain numbers as renewals take place.
Blairgowrie Chair and Secretary positions still remain empty; however the two members who have stepped up to share correspondence and take minutes are doing a fab job ,Blairgowrie continue to run with a busy programme and will be hosting the P&K Annual Review late spring.
Janette Bain has expressed her wish to step down as Chair of Crieff Guild, we hope to have a
Crieff member take over the position.
Members continue to achieve or work toward Voyage , S.T.A.R.S. ,Motivate , Chocolate and the new International at Home Badges (Auchterarder also work toward other themed badges)
Our Guilds continue to get involved and give support where we can in our localities, in our wider communities, Girl Guiding and Scouting .Auchterarder made a donation of £100 to Broughty Ferry R.N.L.I after our visit there.
I look forward to joining the T.G. Chairs of Forth Valley, Clacks’ and Fife at the 3 Counties Girl Guiding Training day in March being held in Stirling and having many T.G. members attend on the day . We are busy programme planning at present.
Auchterarder Trefoil hope to feature in the Trefoil magazine soon , we were missed out in December, but are hoping it will be our turn to fly the flag for Scotland in March.
Many P&K members attended a lovely afternoon tea hosted by Janette and Crieff T.G. members. Alongside our National Chair Alison Plummer we celebrated Crieff Trefoil Guilds 70th Anniversary , highlights included an impressive singalong accompanied by a few Kazoo players!
Across the Guilds we’ve had Bonfire themed nights (and badges) and Christmas get togethers (with Auchterarder unsuccessful in solving a Christmas Crime but having great fun trying.)
Our first meetings of the 2026 have been varied ,featuring International at Home , Knit and Natter and Geneaology ! We have our 2026 programmes planned and shared across all Guilds and look forward to the Scottish and National A.G.Ms
Chair of Dundee Trefoil Guild:- The County has three Trefoil Guilds, two in Dundee and one in Monifieth. One of the Dundee Guilds no longer meets at a regular time but meets flexibly to fit in with the weather and when people feel able to get out and about.
Overall numbers in the County have increased this year, which is good news. Members continue to work on the various challenges found in the Trefoil programme, which are done either as individuals or as part of the monthly programme. Ramanee Bengough recently received her Gold Voyage Award which has spurred others on to sign up or revisit the Voyage Award.
Looking further afield for challenges, TG13 did the Railway Challenge from the North of England which involved crawling about on the floor building a trainset! This followed the Sunflower
challenge from Girlguiding Cambridgeshire West in the Summer, and the next plan is to do the Health and Wellbeing Challenge in March.
Christmas crafts are a regular feature of TG 13 December meeting. This year Georgie Anderson
led the making of beautifully decorated Christmas bottles. The Chair of TG13 missed this fun evening as she had just set off on a solo trip to Our Cabana. She was the only European there that week but had a fabulous time which she will share everyone at a later date.
Monifieth Trefoil held a very successful open afternoon in November with over 60 members attending from Trefoil Guilds in Dundee and Angus. The guest speaker was Shirley Phillips, once a Monifieth Guide, who now runs a successful business - House of Colour. Shirley is a multi-award-winning colour, style and brand consultant. She kept the audience riveted with her explanation of how the colours and styles that we wear impact on how we are perceived by others and how what we wear can change how we feel about ourselves. She encouraged us all not to fall into the “this will do” trap when we get dressed in the morning. Shirley’s talk was followed by a delicious afternoon tea.
Instead of Going out for Christmas Lunch one of the Monifieth members catered for the whole Trefoil Guild at their meeting place. Trefoil members try to support Girlguiding Dundee whenever possible. In the past few months, they have supported the Girlguiding Park Run and held a work party at Newbigging outdoor centre, which they finished off with pizza and games and managed to recruit 2 new members from the Guide Leaders who turned up to the work party.
