Three County Fun Day

The latest adventure from Essex South East…

One sunny Saturday morning at the beginning of July, it was our County’s turn to host the Three Essex Counties Challenge Fun Day at the Sweyne Park School in Rayleigh. This is a yearly event when Trefoil members from Essex South East, Essex West and Essex North East meet up in different parts of Essex to compete for a trophy.

The theme we chose this year was to celebrate Americian Independence Day, so all our activities were based around this to gain lots of points at the end of the afternoon for the winning County. During the day we were helped by local Girlguiding leaders, who had volunteered to man the activities, help with the refreshments and organise the car parking in thanks for when we do it for them at county Girlguiding events.

At the start of the day Jayne Skingley, our County Chair, welcomed everyone and we all had great fun in making dream catchers, pom poms, decorating totem poles, planting sunflower seeds, map reading, puzzle solving, doing various hand and eye co-ordinating activities and having a best decorated cowboy hat competition before each county performed a cheerleading chant.

At the end of the afternoon Essex South East was delighted to discover that they had gained the most points during the day and to win the Trophy and it was great to meet up with Trefoil friends from other parts of Essex and to renew friendships, which being a member of Trefoil offers to everyone and so may it continue.
