Lincolnshire South friendship day

1st Lincoln and Lincoln South West  Trefoil Guilds hosted this year’s county Friendship Day on 5th July.  They chose an Indian theme and invited Sunita to give us a talk and run some group workshops. Members from guilds all over the county attended.

As well as catching up with old friends from other guilds, the morning was given to craft activities on our Indian theme: Rangoli patterns made with coloured rice, Divali lamps on old CDs, Warli art and others.  There was also the opportunity to visit local attractions: Cogglesford water mill; The Hub, the National Craft Centre; Sleaford museum or one of the three nearby garden centres.

After lunch, Sunita gave us an interesting talk about Hinduism then we split into three groups to dress in saris and learn some Indian dance movements. New craft activities were available. Later in the afternoon, Sunita gathered us all together to take part in a whole group dance.

The day ended with afternoon tea and the promise of meeting together next year in Skegness.
