Airedale Trefoil complete the 80th Birthday Challenge
Members of Airedale trefoil completed the 80th Birthday Challenge by taking the expertise of Hannah Lamb, a tutor in Textile Arts at Bradford College, and printing silk scarves using autumn leaves, which of course, included oak leaves.
At their October meeting they all decorated a piece of silk, with a variety of leaves, in designs of their own choice. They were sprayed with water and/or an iron mixture, wrapped tightly around a stick and secured with lots of rubber bands before being placed in a steamer, whilst they all had some well earned refreshments. They took their sticks home to dry, with promises not to look until their next meeting when they had their Big Reveal!
There were mixed results but we could all see the leaves of our designs. It was a very interesting activity and we all now have a wearable silk scarf and a completed Challenge!
