News from around Wales

Anglesey On 3rd of March 6 of our members (that’s 40% of our merry band) travelled over the Straits to Llandudno, to join them in their Thinking Day celebration. We thoroughly enjoyed their Guide’s Own type service, with candles and songs. We even pinched their last number for own meeting the following week.

Wednesday 12th March was our own monthly meeting, FUN & GAMES, held at the Anglesey Guide Centre in Lligwy. We presented our 2nd MOTIVATE CHALLENGE badge, and also held a Promise Ceremony.

Then the FUN began. We split into groups and ran a modified Pictionary – demonstrating our limited artistic skills, a round of Reminiscing – stretching our memories, and had a taste of things to come at our next meeting with Penguin Pelmanism.

We concluded with a clapping game, brought from Llandudno – The Long Legged Sailor. We had laughed earlier in the meeting, but the end had all in stitches. Co-ordination is a funny thing!

To round off the month 3 members travelled down to Bridgend for the Wales Annual Review. We returned ‘motivated’ to continue to push our limits and endeavour to raise our numbers.

Prestatyn Trefoil had a very informative afternoon with the crime prevention team

10 members of Lower Landsker caught 7-40 am train to Cardiff to visit B B C studios what was a lovely day in glorious weather with a group of lovely Trefoil friends.

After arriving we headed to Bills for Brunch then to B B C studios for tour which was very interesting and informative, then to John Lewis for tea & cake and retail Therapy before an eventful journey home: from Swansea we had to have mini bus to Tenby due to signal failure.

All added to our day and as True Girl Guides we got through the day laughing and enjoying each others’ company.

Wrexham Trefoil Guild members enjoyed an AGM with a difference yesterday. In the morning, as guests of our Chair and Wrexham Mayor, Cllr Beryl Blackmore, we were very privileged to witness a very special Citizenship Ceremony at The Guildhall. It was an honour to see visitors from Bangor, Ellesmere Port & Shropshire, as well as local Wrexham residents make their pledges and affirmations as British Citizens.

Mold Guild’s first meeting of the year was in February as the snow prevented us meeting last month. We certainly made up for it by having a speaker telling us about her life in Borneo for sixteen years. During that time she set up a Brownie pack which tied in with our Thinking Day celebrations. Thank you so much Carolyn for a very entertaining afternoon.

Port Talbot members round a Birch tree which was planted in Margam Park on 11th March 2025 to celebrate past and present members of Port Talbot Trefoil Guild. - The leaves on the tree bear the names of past and present members of Port Talbot Trefoil Guild since it reformed in 2008.
