Anyone for Tea?

The Ulster Executive decided they would like to host a tea party for Trefoil members after lockdown. As there were still restrictions on groups of people meeting, the tea party was to be a virtual one. The invitation asked members to 'sort out their best china and get their glad rags on' On the day, approximately 70 members were joined by, special guests, Eileen Martin, the national chair, as well as the Chief and Deputy Chief Commissioners of Girlguiding Ulster There was great excitement as for some, this was their first experience of zoom.  Whilst having afternoon tea, the ladies had the opportunity to take part in afternoon tea themed quizzes. Eileen brought everyone up to date with Trefoil news and also answered questions.  The tea party ended with Daylight Taps. Many thanks to Girlguiding Ulster for facilitating the zoom tea party.

Have Tractor Will Travel!

Edith Boyd, a member of Clogher Trefoil Guild decided to challenge herself to do something completely different for part of the Silver Voyage Award.  She takes up the story:

'For a section of my silver Voyage award I took part in a tractor run organised by my Church. There were 60+ tractors participating, both vintage and modern. It just so happened the date was 22nd February, an important date in the Guiding calendar. I decided to drive a 61 year old Massey Ferguson 35 tractor which belonged to my late father. This was a real challenge as it didn't have a cab on it!  My husband kept asking me if I was still keen to go as the weather was cold and there was rain forecast. I was determined to do it and I did! Twenty miles over bumpy roads and across a mountain! The view was lovely, but it was cold, and there was even a shower of hail stones! I was one of only two female drivers, the other happened to be one of my former guides, twenty year old Sarah, driving a modern tractor belonging to her father. It was a great feeling to end up back at the church hall for a very welcome BBQ.'

Well done Edith
