The charity was established in 2004 by Jean and her husband, to relieve poverty and distress among children and young adults who are orphans or destitute in Kumasi, Ghana.
Most of the children live at the King Jesus Charity Home in Boadi, Kjumasi, which is a nongovernmental charity orphanage, strongly supported by Girlguiding Newcastle upon Tyne over the years. However as with all worthwhile projects the needs have expanded and now Jean finds the trust not only sending urgently needed funds to keep the home going, but also baby clothes and blankets for the local Maternity Hospital where many of the residents arrive from.
The Trust’s latest Newsletter tells of the urgent need for new mattresses for the home (£25 each), however food stocks are so low that needs must be prioritised and the mattresses will have to wait. Primary education is free, (but one boy was sent home from school because he had no shoes to wear), the Trust pays High School fees and now as the children grow and flourish - University fees as well. The expenses for keeping everything running are endless.
