  • Keighley Division Guild Celebrates!

    In 2009 Keighley Division Trefoil Guild celebrated its 60th Anniversary. Members enjoyed a meal out at Steeton Hall, near Keighley, which was originally the home of Miss Dorothy Clough, a former Division Commissioner and President, before becoming a restaurant. Steeton Hall was the place where our Trefoil Guild was first registered.

    Do you remember the nuclear power station disaster at CHERNOBYL in the Ukraine in 1986? The result was the worst devastation the world has ever known in terms of a nuclear explosion. Today Chernobyl is still a ‘NO GO’ area for 15 miles and nothing grows.

    Trefoil Guild members and friends from Chevin Division Guild spent a day on Otley Chevin helping the Senior Section pull Himalayan Balsam as part of Change The World.

    On June 19th Bridlington Guild organised a walk for East Yorkshire County. They did a circular walk from Sewerby Hall to Danes Dyke ending up in Sewerby at the Ship Inn for lunch.

  • North East England’s Annual General Meeting

    14 July 2009

    North East England’s AGM was held in June at ASDA House in Leeds. The meeting was chaired by Brenda Parke, National President and a minute’s silence was held for Vickie Rigden NEE Regional President who passed away in April. She will be sadly missed for her great humour and support within the Region.

  • How North East England Changed the World - the Next Chapter!

    CHESTER- LE- STREET GUILD, Durham South, joined with their Division Guides to support Island Café Anguilla. The Guild only has 14 members and after looking at the activity pack they baked and supplied food and drink for the café. About 100 girls took part in activities provided by the Leaders and each spent 50p at the “canteen”. They raised £60.00 which was sent to the Island Café Leadership Development Team at Girlguiding UK.

    I am part of the organising team for Chester-le-Street Divisions Thinking Day celebration this year. We are running activities from the Island Cafe project for all age groups in our Division on Sunday 22nd Feb at South Pelaw Infant School in Chester-le-Street .

    Hazel Barker, a member of Ripon Trefoil Guild, has been voted “Jewel of Ripon” for her work in the community. 2008 was the inaugural year of the award and nominations came from the people of Ripon.
