Branwen, my granddaughter and I had a wonderful time yesterday (Sunday 21st) taking part in a Guiding Thinking Day Show in St. David's Hall in Cardiff. The Show was called GLOW - Guiding Lights Our World

Our County of Cardiff and East Glamorgan was divided into Divisions who each represented a different decade during our first Century of Guiding, and Branny and I were acting with the Cardiff Trefoil Guild, who represented 1909 to 1930, starting with the very first Guides at the Crystal Palace Rally, complete with scarves, Scout hats and staves.

Branwen acted as the first Rosebud and I acted as Granny B-P and wore her old uniform from the 1930s, complete with her Gold Fish!! borrowed from the Archivist at CHQ which I shall return next Saturday when I go to the Thinking Day/Founder's Day Service in Westminster Abbey. Branny and I thoroughly enjoyed our day and she was a real star. The Show was brilliant!

Central Glamorgan County had a Funday, ONE WORLD ONE BEAT, being one of several venues around the country doing the same thing. They had bases which the girls moved around - lots of different crafts, music, including learning to play ocarinas and drums and also in a steel band, dancing - Indian (a Sangam base) and ballet and Welsh country dancing, and singing, including singing along to Mama Mia! Another fab day!

So all through this I have been thinking of Guiding friends around the world As we said to end our scene in our play: WHAT A MOVEMENT FOR PEACE! Gill Clay.
