International Advisers Visit To Sangam - Jan 09
28th January 2009

- International advisers on way to Indian wedding
What an amazing experience!!
No where have we had a warmer welcome than at Sangam! It is a beautiful place of peace and tranquillity; all the staff are so caring and helpful, involving us all in the traditional way of India - food, crafts, mirror embroidery work, flower garlands, and even an invitation to a wedding! It was wonderful to be part of the couple's special day - a Japanese bride and an Indian groom who had met whilst at university in Boston. We had punjabi suits made in six hours so that we could be correctly dressed for the occasion!
The most impressive work they do from Sangam is the work and support they give to the Community. This involvement is continuous; every one visiting Sangam is involved. The heart rendering visit to Deep Griha, the City of Child and many more places, the welcome from the children, their songs, the beautiful big brown eyes, the smiles along with the wonderful work of all the staff and volunteers, the medical help with a small surgery, laboratory, kitchens, the conditions around the area, if only we could transfer the facilities from home to so many desperate areas it would be wonderful.
After leaving Sangam we did a tour, still continuing with Guiding, when we arrived in Mumbai we visited Guides and Bulbuls, we met with ISGF and FOS (Asia Pacific), having two enjoyable visits, staying for meals on both occasions.
Some of the advisers who had visited Sangam before, always enthused so much about it, we members having our first visit now know why, both happy and heart rendering memories will always remain, with the hope to visit Sangam again soon.
