Margaret Smith, a member of the national Trefoil Guild group which visited Sangam in October writes....Whilst in Jaipur recently we had a chance meeting with a state official who was visiting a sari factory near Pune at the same time as our group. He was keen to know what we were doing there and we told him about Sangam and the Trefoil Guild. He said that his wife was a Guide Commissioner in Jaipur and he hoped that we would contact her as he knew that she would like to meet us. We arranged a meeting and the lady came to visit our group at our hotel. She brought her two children, aged 17 and 13, with her and chatted with us all in turn.
As it was the end of Diwali she brought us a gift of nuts and fruit in a decorated box and a copy of her recently published book of her paintings.
She is having an exhibition in London in May 2010 and hoped we would pay her a visit there. As well as being an artist she is an official in the State of Rajasthan.
Fortunately, unlike her husband she didn't come with an armed guard - well, not into the hotel anyway - but her car did have a flashing red light on it, so who knows?
