The Trefoil Guild project for Fellowship Day Fund 2009 is to help to raise money to pay for 2 two young women, one from Chad and one from Liberia, to attend the WAGGGS Young Women's World Forum which is to be held in Oxfordshire in October 2010.
As part of the celebration of 100 years of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting, the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts will hold a series of three Young Women’s World Forums between 2010 and 2012.
This is the first time ever that WAGGGS has organized a global young women’s forum. Young women from each of WAGGGS’ 145 Member Organizations will have the opportunity to attend one of these unique events, or participate virtually through the WAGGGS’ website.
As mentioned above the first Young Women’s World Forum will take place in October 2010 in Oxfordshire. In 2011, each of the WAGGGS’ four World Centres (based in Mexico, Switzerland, India and the UK) will simultaneously host a YWWF. In 2012, Girl Scouts of the USA will host the third and final YWWF as part of its centenary celebrations. Contributions can be made by cheque (made payable to “The Trefoil Guild”) and sent to the Trefoil Guild office by December 31st 2009 along with a note saying that the money is for the Fellowship Day Fund.
This project is entirely separate to the Pax Lodge project which is linked to the final Trefoil Guild visit to the Four World Centres and is to pay for young women to attend a seminar at Pax Lodge in March 2010.
