The Four World Centres – visits of a life time!
3rd March 2009

- Our Cabana

- Our Chalet
In 2006 the Trefoil Guild launched a project to visit all four WAGGGS World Centres to celebrate the centenary of Guiding.
In April 2007 68 members from all over the UK spent a memorable 6 days at OUR CABANA as the start to the Trefoil Guild’s visits to all the Four World Centres in the run up to the Centenary in 2010. Many great friendships were made and everyone had fantastic stories to tell not only of the stay at Our Cabana, but also the extra visits to Mexico City and beyond both before and after the event. If you are interested in planning a trip to Our Cabana you can visit their website at http://www.ourcabana.org/en/home
In April 2008, 70 Guild members took part in the second stage of ‘Celebrate Around the World’, staying at OUR CHALET. Their experiences were many and varied with many ‘firsts’ and ‘mountain-top moments’, literally… Here are some snippets from some of the participants • Childhood dreams fulfilled, adult expectations far surpassed, beautiful memories that will remain for ever • I can’t write in a sentence the pleasure it has given me. I would need to write a book! • Many women on this holiday have inspired me. I have a renewed interest in Guiding. I feel stimulated and refreshed and made some wonderful new friends. • The young staff and volunteers were a delight to be with • The highlight was walking in the snow on Engstligenalp. • It was all I expected and more - loved every minute of it! • Singing the Chalet Song at Our Chalet with Guild members – such superb harmony! The next stage of the WAGGGS World Centres tour takes members to Sangam in October 2010. SANGAM is set in six and a half acres of ground by the Mula river on the outskirts of the large bustling city of Puna, 120 mile south east of Munbai. It is the youngest of the World Centres and was opened in 1966 by Olave, Lady Baden Powell. The final venue will be in the UK at PAX LODGE in Hampstead, North London. There will be 2 open days – Wednesday 8th and Wednesday 15th September 2010. The open days will have a full programme of activities including tours of Pax Lodge and the World Bureau.
