Thanks and Recognition Awards

Congratulations to Margaret Stevenson!

Margaret Stevenson receiving her Thanks and recognition badge from Karen Batten, Bucks county chair as she steps down from five years as Gerrards Cross and Denham guild chair.

A review of Margaret’s time in the guild has been written one of the guild members:

Margaret cannot recall when she initially joined Trefoil, but she does remember being propositioned into becoming secretary in 2013/14 when two long standing members approached her, told her she was the ideal person to take it on and didn’t feel she could say ‘no’! She held that post until June 2019 when she was elected guild chair.

Within 9 months we were in lock down and she was brilliant, holding the Guild together initially with email but then taking it a step further to Zoom and she has said how proud she was that she managed to get all members Zoom confident and taking part in meetings.

When we went back to face to face it was as if we had a new face on the Guild. We changed to afternoon meetings, and we blossomed adding extra activities on top of the monthly meetings. This meant members got to know each other so much better.

Another area which Margaret spearheaded was our annual charity. We always had a charity we supported each year but the level of support we gave grew substantially under Margaret. It is now a significant feature of our programme and will remain so.

Last year she had a most unfortunate accident, falling from a loft ladder damaging her pelvis and needing a replacement shoulder. Throughout the recovery she was forever cheerful and positive, and she never forgot Trefoil. Even from her hospital bed she was writing us ditties we could include in our performance at the Winter Gathering.

And she’s not stepped down completely. We have a monthly newsletter, again started during lockdown but which Margaret has turned into a masterpiece. She’s agreed to continue to produce this for us.
