Round the Regions - Scotland Central

From Birthday Challenges to Voyage awards, supporting Girlguiding and charities, energetic and more leisurely activities, all Trefoils in Scotland's central region have been busy ensuring they cover the 4 key messages. Forth Valley held its first ‘Come and Camp; Try Brownies and Rainbows’ session. Working with the Girlguiding leaders, Trefoil members organised, publicised and delivered an afternoon of activities in Redding. Everyone had a super afternoon and before the session had finished, several parents had registered their daughters on the Girlguiding webpage, a couple of adults expressed interest in becoming leaders and Trefoil information was taken away for further perusal. The idea is now to continue this throughout the county over the next couple of years. Fife Brownies have been assisted with their sewing skills, and various units throughout Central have enjoyed new craft activities courtesy of Trefoil members. It is great that supporting units has now, once again, become an important part of our programme as it was pre COVID. Beginning with the idea of knitting 80 items for Forth Valley Royal Hospital and filling 80 handbags for the Rotary Christmas appeal as part of the 80th birthday, 135 handbags were filled and donated to Rotary Larbert and approximately 550 knitted items were made and donated to the hospital. The Love Oliver charity also benefitted to the tune of £140 from a fundraiser organised by Glenrothes Trefoil. Visits to the ballet, the Gang Show, participating in Christmas Tree festivals, several members visiting Switzerland with the resultant Thinking Day presentations and the planting of oak trees have all provided members with a choice of activities out with their regular monthly meetings. With all that activity, it is great to see that several members were also presented with Voyage awards. At the end of March we were given the opportunity to participate in the 3 counties Girlguiding Training Day. This proved to be a great day during which we could not only participate in the activities, but actively promote Trefoil to all the leaders in attendance. The conversations were very positive and we are hoping these will bear fruit throughout Central and that we shall all welcome new members to our units whether it is immediately or in the future. Everyone is looking forward to the longer nights and (hopefully) warmer weather as we look forward to our annual meetings and summer activities.
