Gwent news

On 5th April the new Gwent guide commissioner Dawn Clayton invited her newly appointed vice presidents to afternoon tea at the Green meadow golf club in Cwmbran to celebrate. Two were long serving guide leaders and two were Trefoil members. Gwyneth Maguiness from Cwmbran trefoil guild and Billie Williams from Newport guild.

They were joined by the newly appointed president Jen Lloyd together with other in post vice presidents.

There are currently 6 trefoil members holding vice president positions in Gwent guiding.

One of the in post vice presidents Joy Sergeant was also  presented with her 50 year service badge to guiding, having been a leader and a former president as well as a vice president and a former Trefoil Guild chairman of Cwmbran guild.

It was a lovely afternoon good food and good friendly company.

On Feb 6th a celebration evening took place in the Eastern valley guiding area in south Wales.

The event was to celebrate 80 years and 70 years respectively of the brownies and guides. But they also celebrated 50 years of their long standing leader Lindia Manley.

Lindia has held many positions in guiding over the 50 years.

She has been a brownie leader, a guide leader. District commissioner. Division commissioner.  Twice Pack holiday and camping advisor, licence holder as a first aider, quartermaster leader qualification and mentor and Co-ordinator.

She has been a keen supporter of scouting in the Eastern valley she had also been a keen member and still supports the local trefoil Guild.

Her guiding experiences right through to trefoil are immeasurable.

The presentation of the 50 year brooch was made by a long standing trefoil member Irene Matthews, this was in the absence

Of the guiding commissioner for Gwent.

I gave a vote of thanks on behalf of the county trefoil guild.
